Toddle Waddle

George has convinced his friends at nursery to take part in a Toddle Waddle to raise money for the Meningitis Trust. A few bargaining chips were offered. You can cuddle my penguin until I scream and demand it back, if you take part in the Toddle Waddle with me. That sort of thing.

And so, several pinches of penguin later, George had recruited the entire nursery. The date is set. The babies are in training and penguin, well, he’s taking a well-earned spit break and is currently in the wash. He’s happy to take a few bullets for George. They are best friends after all.

In all seriousness, though. This is a really important cause. As some of you reading this will know, George was born with Meningitis. It was a terrifying time for me and his Da Dad but that boy fought it off, in the same manner he tosses his sun hat to the ground when I think I have secured it firmly back on his head. He is a fighter and now he wants to raise money to help other babies fight this killer infection.

So, on Friday August 9, George and about 30 other toddlers and pre-school children will step to it, on the Moor beside the nursery. They will travel a gruelling 1k, all in the name of the Meningitis Trust. It will be hot and tiredness will set in quickly but they will do it because they are determined and know there will be biscuits at the end.

George is pumping iron already and, when penguin dries off, he will be lifting him above his head repeatedly, shouting for more water in between. For him and the penguin. It’s a tough job but this baby is going to do it.

Please help George and his friends raise as much money as they can for the Meningitis Trust. There’s a cuddle with a penguin on offer if you so wish.
